Land-Use & Demographics Analysis Tool (LANDAT)

DCSE has developed a software application to dynamically aggregate and analyze demographic and economic values from the Census, SCAG, SANDAG, and other geo-spatial database based on predefined boundaries.

The tool has enabled this Water District (Undisclosed Client) to calculate the values of demographic and economic data within its member agency boundary (or a selected boundary) and perform temporal and comparative analysis of demographic and economic data based on land-use.

The solution enables the District to do the followings:

• Select an area of interest that include boundaries for Water Agency, County, City, Boundaries, and User Defined Polygon.
• Select data inputs of interest, such as demographics, economics, and land-use attributes.
• Dynamically query a spatial database, overlay coverage, calculate and aggregate demographics, economic value based on land-use.
• Display results of the calculations in tabular or geographical.
• Allow the user to save the results for use in other applications – Microsoft Excel and Access format, GIS-based maps, and conversion to Adobe Acrobat PDF format.
• Allow for digital display and/or large and small format printing of geographical mapping of land-use attribute and demographic and economic results.
• Ability to updated and add new demographic, economic, and land-use data sources to system as they become available.
